STUDY OF PROCESS PARAMETERS IN STIR CASTING METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF PARTICULATE COMPOSITE PLATE (140544)

Abstract : Particulate composite is one of the promising materials to fulfill the demands of modern technology. They find huge application in aerospace,automotive,structural and marine industries . P articulate composite constituent s of a base material called as matrix and other constituent is embedded in matrix made of harder material generally ceramic or non metallic material called as reinforcement. Various processing techniques are available for manufacturing of particulate composites . Stir casting is one of the economical and extensively used methods to enhance attractive properties of particulate composite . This paper presents an overview of stir casing process and process parameter having Al alloy as a matrix phase and alumina (Al 2 O 3) as a reinforcement.
