Abstract : Nano fluids are fluids in which nano particles (less than 100 nm) are suspended in the conventional base fluids. These dispersed solid nano particles metallic or non - metallic change s the thermal properties of the base fluid like thermal conductivity,viscosity,specific heat,and density,etc . Th is paper summarizes the important articles published on the enhancement of the heat transfer characteristics in heat exchangers using nano fluids. In the first part of this article the experimental studies and results for the effective thermal conductivity,viscosity and the Nusselt number reported by several authors are discussed . And the second part is focused on application of nano fluids in different types of heat exchangers .
